BMI - Body Mass Index
BMI is calculated by dividing an adult’s weight in kilograms by their height in meters squared.  For example, A BMI of 25 means 25kg/m2.

Underweight = <18.5 kg/m2 (your body is less than the normal recommended weight. you need to eat more nutritious food with adequate exercise. 

Normal weight = 18.5 kg/m2 – 22.9 kg/m2 (Your weight is within the normal recommended weight. Maintain your weight with adequate exercises.

Risk to overweight= 23 kg/m2 – 24.9 kg/m2 (Your weight is within the normal recommended weight. Try to bring down it with more exercises and correct dietary practices.

Overweight = 25 kg/m2 – 29.9 kg/m2 (Your weight is more than the normal recommended weight. Bring down it with more exercises and correct dietary practices.

Obesity = BMI of 30 kg/m2 or greater (Your weight is very much higher than the normal recommended weight and is a risk factor for many other diseases like diabetes and heart diseases. Bring down it with more exercises, correct dietary practices and medical advices


Green zone

You are within a desirable weight range. your calorie intake varies on your activity level and your gender as given in the below table.


Yellow zone

You are overweight and identify your daily caloric value in relation to your activity level and gender to control calorie intake. your calorie intake must be 250-500 kilocalories less than the normal BMI people to reduce at least 1 to 2 kg of your weight per month till it reaches a desirable weight range. weight reduction of 5 to 10 kg may help to improve blood glucose levels and blood pressure. you must have to improve to achieve a green zone. 

Orange and red zone

 You are obese. identify your calorie value from the table. your caloric intake must be 500 kilocalories less than the normal BMI of people to reduce at least 2kg of weight per month till you reach the desirable weight range. with the reduction of weight, you can fit into yellow or green Zones. but your final aim should be the Green zone of BMI chat.

Blue Zone

 You are underweight. your caloric intake must allow for appropriate weight gain in addition to your activity level and gender. It must be 500 kilocalories more than the normal BMI people to gain at least 2kg of weight per month till you enter a desirable weight range and fit within the green zone. 


Sedentary are office workers sales and light industrial workers, Moderately active people are teachers, nurses, and technicians and the very active are the armies, sportsmen, construction workers and heavy industry workers.
